Six Senses Kaplankaya

Bodrum, Mugla, Turkey141 rooms and suites plus residences · Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas

Researched and sourced by hand. Last reviewed 2026-08-19.

A resort that reports its own numbers

Kaplankaya is terraced into the rock above the Aegean an hour north of Bodrum, and it publishes an annual set of operating figures rather than adjectives. Water consumption per room per night down 10.49 percent against a 2019 baseline. 267 kilograms of vegetables out of its own garden in 2025. 16,449 kilograms of material recycled. 180 tree seedlings planted with local schools and the forest directorates. Off the shore, a marine restoration programme that removed more than ten tons of tyres, rope and ghost nets across twelve kilometres of coast over 176 dives, and installed twenty artificial reef blocks. Numbers are what separate a documented property from a well-written one, and this resort already writes them down every year.

The bed is specified further than the building

Six Senses publishes its sleep standard at group level, and it is unusually concrete: a handmade mattress of organic lamb's wool over coir from a certified organic coconut plantation, a latex layer from a certified organic rubber plantation, organic cotton sheets, non-allergenic organic pillows and duvets, and eucalyptus linen for guests who sleep hot. Arriving guests get access to Timeshifter for a personal jet lag plan, and on the sleep programme the lighting can be adjusted and a sound therapy machine provided. At the property itself, amenities come from marble dispensers rather than plastic bottles. What is specified is the bed. What is not specified is the room around it.

The gap worth naming

The spa here is enormous: hammams, a Watsu pool, a hydrotherapy circuit, crystal steam, a salt grotto, a meditation cave. Not one figure has been published about the water in any of it, and nothing at all about drinking water beyond the consumption trend. The cooling plant is named for the fuel it saves rather than for what it does to the air, and no filtration grade or indoor reading exists. Nothing is published on the wireless network or on what a bedroom reads, and the group markets free wifi to its members, which is the usual reputation trap. Sound appears once, as a machine offered to mask what a room is already doing. A property that counts kilograms of vegetables could count these too.

What is not publishedthe gaps we looked for and did not find

Kaplankaya publishes an annual set of operating figures and none of them describe a guest room. Nothing is published on network topology, access point placement or field levels in a bedroom, and the group markets free wifi to members, so EMF Harmony is empty and the reputation trap applies here as it does everywhere. Air is covered only by a heat recovery cooling system named for its fuel saving, with no filtration grade, air change rate or indoor reading published. The water figures are about consumption and irrigation reuse: no treatment train for drinking water, no mineral profile, no bacteriological result, and nothing published about the water in the hydrothermal circuit, the Watsu pool or the hammams. Lighting evidence is a group programme rather than a room specification, with no colour temperature, lux level or blackout provision published. On sound, the group offers a therapy machine on request and the resort publishes nothing about ambient levels, separation between rooms, or the plant serving a spa of this size.

Not published is not unsafehow to read these scores, and what this index does not promise

A low score means a property has not published information. It does not mean the property is unsafe, unhealthy or poorly run.

These scores measure disclosure. These scores describe disclosure, not property quality. This index has no commercial relationship with the properties listed unless a badge on the listing says otherwise.

Conditions change, and we will not always know. Every record is a snapshot of what a property had published when we read it, and that date is on the page. Conditions change: a property can refit, change suppliers or replace a system at any time, and nothing requires it to tell us. We re-read records and ask properties directly for updates, but there will always be a gap between what is true today and what was published when we looked. Use this as a frame of reference for what to ask, not as a substitute for asking. Take your own questions to the property before you book, and tell us if you find something we have wrong.

We report what properties publish. We do not inspect, certify or vouch for any property on this index unless a listing says we assessed it on site, and we accept no responsibility for decisions made or outcomes experienced on the basis of what you read here.

Questions travelers askwater, air, EMF, and whether it is worth it

Questions travelers ask about Six Senses Kaplankaya

Does Six Senses Kaplankaya publish water quality testing?

Yes, at specification level: a named system, supplier or standard is on the record, without a published measurement. Scored 2 of 3.

What is the air quality like in the rooms?

We can only report what is published about the rooms themselves. It is claimed but not specified: the property asserts it without naming a system, supplier or measurement. Scored 1 of 3.

Is Six Senses Kaplankaya low-EMF?

No measurement is published. Only 15 of the 92 properties we have researched publish any bedroom EMF information at all, so this is the industry norm, not an outlier.

Is Six Senses Kaplankaya worth it?

We score evidence, not experience. On evidence, it ranks 12 of 92 researched records. The strongest documented pathways are Food and Kitchen and Water Integrity; nothing is published on EMF Harmony.
