How a record gets in, and how it gets out.

One test, and it is stricter than it sounds: one property, one set of building services, and a guest can book it and sleep in it. If a record cannot answer what did you breathe last night, it does not belong here.

• A place with a bedHotels, resorts, retreats, villas, lodges, inns, camps, farm stays, guesthouses, bathhouses and clinics with guest rooms. A day spa, a gym, a residential tower, residences for sale and a members club are not stays, and the spa inside a hotel is not the hotel.
• One building, not a portfolioBrands, groups, management companies and tourism bodies are out. There is no single air handling system to describe, so every pathway would be answered about a thing that does not breathe. Records like these are kept as market research, off the index.
• Nobody buys their way in, and nobody can buy their way out of the orderA listing is free and permanent. No property pays to appear, to rank or to be removed from a comparison, and there are no sponsored positions anywhere on this site.
• Something has to be readableA property with no website on file cannot be researched, cannot be photographed with credit and cannot be contacted. Those records stay in our files and get no public page, because a number about a named business we have no route to defending should not be published. The moment a website is found the record rejoins the index automatically.
• Editorial exclusionA record can be held off the site by judgement rather than by evidence, and when that happens the reason goes in the change history rather than in somebody’s head. It is used sparingly. A quiet exclusion is how an index that claims to report what it finds stops doing that.

We read what the property and third parties have published across the eight pathways: Air Ecology, Water Integrity, Light Rhythm, EMF Harmony, Materials and Textiles, Food and Kitchen, Biophilic and Healing Design, Sound and Sensory Ecology. Each pathway gets an answer, and an answer is never a guess.

• One claim, one source, one dateEvery claim is one neutral sentence about what is published, with the page it came from, who published it, and the date we read it. Where we captured it, the sentence on that page that supports the claim is stored verbatim, so re-checking is a text comparison rather than a reading exercise.
• The build refuses the shortcutsA claim at the two strongest published tiers must carry a source URL or the site does not build. A property’s own account of itself can never reach the top tier, however detailed. A figure about the operator or the wider group can never be the reason one building reaches the top tier. An on-site observation must name the assessor, the date and any relationship with the property. These are checks in the build, not intentions.
• Nothing published is an answerA pathway we read and found nothing on is recorded as nothing published, which is a finding about the public record and not a mark against the property. A pathway nobody has read yet is recorded separately as unread. Merging those two would let an admission about us read as a finding about a business, so they are kept apart everywhere, the data feed included.
• Mould and damp is named, not folded awayDamp, humidity control, dehumidification, condensation, visible mould and any inspection, testing or remediation for them sit under the air pathway and are tagged as their own subject, so a reader can filter and count them rather than hunt through a general air row.
• Context is not a claimRegional and climate data, booking platform data and certifications a property holds are recorded and shown, each with its own source, and none of them moves a pathway answer on its own. A property is not marked down for the air outside it, and a certificate is evidence that a test happened rather than evidence of what the test found.
• Hand-sourced and imported are different things116 of 127 published records have been researched by hand with every claim carrying its own source. The rest carry numbers from an earlier assessment pass. Those records still have a page, still appear in browse and still count in every total, and they are deliberately kept out of our sitemap: we do not go and solicit search traffic for claims about a named business that we cannot yet stand behind line by line.

Anyone can send us something. A property can submit or correct its record. A reader can write to corrections@verifiedwellnessspaces.com. A property exercising its right of reply writes to reply@verifiedwellnessspaces.com.

• A submission is treated as the property’s statementWhat a property sends is recorded as what the property told us, marked as such on the record, and capped below the top tier. It is not verification, and detail does not change that. Sending us information does not guarantee verification or certification, and it never moves a record’s position.
• A claimed fact needs a place a reader can goA submission that names a system, a supplier, a grade or a standard can be recorded at the specified tier once there is something a reader could check. A submission with nothing named behind it is recorded as claimed, in the property’s own voice, which is exactly what it is.
• A correction is checked against the source, not against usWhen somebody says a claim is wrong we go back to the page it cites and read it again. Three times in one week a claim here cited a page that did not support it, and every one of those was caught by going and looking rather than by reasoning about it. If the source does not support the sentence, the sentence comes off, whether or not anybody complained.
• Every change is logged, including oursThe corrections log is generated from the repository history rather than written by hand, so a score cannot move without appearing in it. 52 of the changes so far were downward, in every case because a record was researched properly and the original evidence did not support the number. A change to a scoring rule is declared in the log too, and checked against the live engine at build time, because the history alone cannot see it.

Every record carries the date it was last reviewed, on its page and in the data feed. A record is re-read when a property sends us something, when a correction arrives, when a source stops resolving or stops saying what we said it said, and when we work through the research queue.

There is no fixed re-review interval, and we are not going to pretend there is one. An earlier version of this index printed a not recently reviewed label after a hundred and eighty three days. That label was retired with the banding system it belonged to. The underlying flag is still computed and is not currently shown to readers. Setting a published cadence is an open decision, and until it is made the review date on the record is the honest answer and the only one.

Every record is a snapshot of what a property had published when we read it, and that date is on the page. Conditions change: a property can refit, change suppliers or replace a system at any time, and nothing requires it to tell us. We re-read records and ask properties directly for updates, but there will always be a gap between what is true today and what was published when we looked. Use this as a frame of reference for what to ask, not as a substitute for asking. Take your own questions to the property before you book, and tell us if you find something we have wrong.

• It was never a stayA brand, a portfolio, a tourism body, a day spa or anything else that fails the test at the top of this page. These are moved out of the index rather than deleted, and the move is logged. 42 records have left this way so far.
• The property closed, or is no longer identifiableA record about a business that no longer exists is a page making claims nobody can answer.
• The evidence collapsedWhere the sources behind a record turn out not to support it and there is nothing left to re-source, the record comes down rather than standing at zero. A page of nothing published about a named business is a real statement, and it should only be made where we actually looked.
• JudgementThe editorial exclusion above. Used sparingly, and the reason is in the change history.

What is not settled: whether a property can require its record to be taken down simply because it would rather not be listed. We have not had that request and we have not decided the answer, so we are not going to publish a policy we have not tested. A property in that position should write to reply@verifiedwellnessspaces.com and we will answer in person. What is settled is that a property always has a right of reply, that every correction it sends is checked, and that no payment of any kind changes what a record says.
