A forested hillside above the limestone cliffs of Pecatu, on the southern tip of Bali, where a family company has set treehouses, studios and eleven ocean view villas on steel stilts among the existing trees. The buildings come from Stilt Studios, the prefab manufacturer the same founder started in 2019, and the design press has written them up in a way most hotels never get: named materials, a named architect, and a method you can read. That is the part of this record that reaches Specified. The rest is a new resort, open since September 2025, that publishes a good deal about how it was built and very little yet about what reaches a guest.

What is published
Every treehouse is glazed on all sides and air conditioned, some with ceiling fans, and the seven Treehouse Villas are separate buildings with fittings in teak, woven rattan and banana paper and bathroom walls of recycled plastic panels made with Ecollabo. Rainwater is harvested, recycled and filtered on site, which matters on a peninsula that trucks its water in, and a solar array of more than 25 kilowatts powers most units. A permaculture garden with mature mango and cashew trees feeds the kitchen, and Bukit, the restaurant on the clifftop, keeps a herb library of five named plants that reaches every plate. Single-use plastic is published as gone. The recovery area holds a sauna, hot and cold plunge pools, a gym, a reformer Pilates studio and a spa, and the retreat village carries a yoga shala of 156 square metres.
What is not
None of this comes with a number. The filtration has no named system, grade or panel, and the site does not say whether the harvested water is what a guest drinks. The glazing has white curtains rather than blackout and nothing is published about lighting after dark. Wi-Fi is complimentary in every room type with nothing on placement or a cut-off.
