Twenty seven rooms and villas in the wood-carving village of Mas, five minutes from Ubud, set into rice paddies with the volcanoes on the skyline. Gdas Bali opened in November 2022, joined Small Luxury Hotels of the World a few months later, and runs the whole property vegan, alcohol free and smoke free. Its wellness zone, The Bali Eden, is where the money went: cryotherapy, salt chamber, LIVE O2, IV drips, stem cell therapy, three kinds of heat and a contrast pool. This record is about something else. It asks what the building does to a guest who sleeps in it, and reports what the property publishes, line by line.

Water
The policy page says what most resorts leave unsaid: tap water is not for drinking, and bottled water is provided for drinking and brushing teeth. That is candour, and it is recorded here as candour. It is also the reason the water row sits at Claimed with the criterion marked as not met. No treatment train for the building is published, no test panel, no filter at a tap. The contrast pool runs cold at 5 to 10 degrees and warm at 40. Those are temperatures, not water quality, so they sit under facilities and touch no score.
Air
Every room has controllable air conditioning and nothing is published about its filter grade or how much fresh air it moves. The one named air technology on the site is UV-C lighting in the hot yoga studio, which is a studio and not a bedroom, and the property does not say what the lamps are for. Two things count against the sleeping space and are recorded rather than credited: in-room aromatherapy is part of the amenity set, and the wall and ceiling panelling is described as fragrant wood. A guest who reacts to scent should ask before booking. The grounds are smoke free by regulation and by the property's own rule.
Materials
The rooms are carved. Hand-carved wood finishing, wood panelling on walls and ceiling, grey stone floors, a green marble vanity, a black stone bathtub, all made by craftsmen from the village the resort stands in. Press before opening reported that every building material came from Bali. None of it is named to a species, a quarry or a supplier, and no mattress, linen or toiletry carries a brand, so the row stays at Claimed. The toiletries are refillable dispensers, and a plant-based insect repellent is provided, which is more than most publish.
Food
Tangi Restaurant is vegan, Balinese in its references, and publishes its own garden as the main source of herbs and vegetables, with imported ingredients alongside. Rare Balinese medicinal herbs are planted across the grounds and the four room buildings are named after them. The garden is a named source, which is why the food row reaches Specified. The share of the plate that comes off the land is not published, which is why it goes no further.
Light, sound and the wireless question
Rooms have a lighting control panel at the bedside and the villas have floor-to-ceiling glass, and that is the whole of what is published on light. Every room also carries a 43 inch television, complimentary Wi-Fi and a sound dock, and nothing is published about where the access points sit or whether anything switches off at night.
