Lumina publishes the answers without being asked. No pyrethrin fogging. Air purifiers and dehumidifiers. Latex beds under cotton linen, in every room. Its own artesian spring feeding the rooms, the kitchen and the pools.
What was built here
Fifteen cottages, suites and villas on a river terrace ten minutes from Ubud, beside a tenth-century water temple. The cottages are century-old Javanese houses, Gladaks and Joglos of antique teak and ironwood, bought in Central Java, carried to Bali and rebuilt by hand above the Wos River. The suites and villas are newer: French plaster, honed marble, private salt-water pools.
Carolyn Tyler is the founder and creative director, a jewellery designer by trade. The property describes itself as a place for highly sensitive people, and the list it publishes behaves accordingly: the timber is named, the mattress is named, the water source is named.
Where the list stops
Every room has air conditioning, and the property tells you not to use it. Sleep with the doors open for the breeze off the river, it says, and the cottages were built for that: verandas on all sides, roll-up rain curtains, skylights.
The spring is called purity-tested and no test is published. A panel with detection limits is the single easiest thing on this record to add. The pools are described as chlorine-free saltwater, and a salt system makes its own chlorine, so read that as the property's description rather than a residual figure. High-speed Wi-Fi reaches every room, and nothing is published about placement or a night cut-off, so that row scores nothing. Reaching every room is coverage, not management.
The other side of the same ledger: incense burns every morning at the shrines and doorsteps. That is outdoor air and a living tradition, and it is on the record because a sensitive guest would want to know.
What the visit found
Jordan Lineham visited for Human Garage in October 2025 and narrated a filmed walkthrough. Seen on site: spring water in refillable bottles, four to a room, refilled daily. Ozone used in cleaning the rooms, with no concentration or schedule recorded. Sunlight reaching the infrared sauna room at certain hours. Natural handmade sheets and pillows, with no fibre or maker named. Natural stone paths, a shala rising to a view over the rice field, vines growing in through an opening in a roof, and the river audible everywhere on the property.
None of that is a measurement. The scope of the visit is not on file.
